New York, NY, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 - Commerce Department Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Rebecca M. Blank attended the dedication for the new United States’ United Nations Mission building in honor of the late U. S. Commerce Department Secretary Ronald H. Brown. Former Secretary Brown lost his life while on a trade mission to Croatia 15 years ago.
In addition to the dedication of the new 26-story U.N. Mission building in New York City, a section of 14th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. outside the Herbert C. Hoover Building where the Commerce Department is located, was dedicated "Ron Brown Way." Among those attending that ceremony were Commerce Department Secretary Gary Locke, Under Secretary Blank along with Secretary Brown's wife, Alma, and their children. Secretary Locke recalled Secretary Brown's dedication to economic justice and his unfailing advocacy for the Commerce Department’s mission.
