Statement from U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker on International Trade in Goods and Services in April 2015

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker issued the following statement today on the release of the April 2015 U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services data. U.S. exports of goods and services increased to $189.9 billion in April from $188.0 billion in March. The goods and services trade deficit improved by $9.7 billion to $40.9 billion in April.

New Report on Value of the American Community Survey

Washington, D.C. -- The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA) released a new report today titled, "The Value of the American Community Survey: Smart Government, Competitive Businesses, and Informed Citizens."  The report shows how the Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) is used to accurately direct over $400 billion in federal funds to the communities that need them, and to help businesses and community leaders make operational decisions that generate economic activity, boost employment, and improve the standard of living in communities across the country.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker issued the following statement today on the release of the February 2015 U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services data. The goods and services trade deficit improved by 17 percent to $35.4 billion in February. This is the lowest monthly trade deficit since October 2009.

The test census will help the U.S. Census Bureau evaluate technologies and advertising methods that will improve the efficiency of 2020 Census operations, thereby saving money while maintaining the Census Bureau's commitment to quality data.

The first is a joint White House supply chain innovation report, which highlights the increasingly important role small and medium sized manufacturers play in creating and retaining manufacturing jobs and investment in the United States. The second is a public-private partnership competition aimed at further supporting small manufacturers.
