International Trade in Goods and Services in September 2015 Statement

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker issued the following statement today on the release of the September 2015 U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services data. U.S. exports of goods and services increased to $187.9 billion in September from $184.9 billion in August. The total trade deficit improved by 15 percent in September to $40.8 billion. Exports of total services were a record, reaching $60.6 billion for the month.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker announced the launch of the first-ever Commerce Data Service at Techonomy 2015 in Half Moon Bay, CA. Consisting of software engineers, data scientists, computer programmers, and web developers, the mission of Commerce Data Service is to develop cutting-edge software products and web services to improve access to and use of departmental data resources of all 12 bureaus.

GDP Growth Rate Revised Up

Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased 2.1 percent in the third quarter of 2015, according to the "second" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The growth rate was revised up 0.6 percentage point from the "advance" estimate released in October. In the second quarter, real GDP increased 3.9 percent.
