Personal income in March 2010 increased 0.3% from February 2010. Real personal consumption expenditures rose 0.5%, and real disposable personal income (DPI) rose 0.2%. The personal savings rate as a percentage of DPI was 2.7% in March.

Personal income in January 2010 increased 0.1% from December. Real personal consumption expenditures (PCE) rose 0.3%, and nominal PCE increased 0.5%. Real disposable personal income (DPI) declined 0.6%, and nominal DPI decreased 0.4%. The personal savings rate as a percentage of DPI was 3.3% in January.

Personal income in December 2009 increased 0.4% from November. Real personal consumption expenditures (PCE) rose 0.1% and nominal PCE increased 0.2%. Real disposable income (DPI) rose 0.3% and nominal DPI increased 0.4%. The personal savings rate as a percentage of DPI was 4.8% in December.

Personal income in July 2010 increased 0.2% from June. Real personal consumption expenditures rose 0.2%, and real disposable personal income (DPI) declined 0.1%. The personal saving rate as a percentage of DPI was 5.9% in July.

Statement from Commerce Under Secretary Rebecca Blank on Personal Income and Outlays in June 2010

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis today released personal income and outlays for June 2010. Personal income remained unchanged in June, and real disposable income increased 0.2 percent. Real personal consumption expenditures increased 0.1 percent in June and at a 1.6-percent annual rate in the second quarter.

“Employment in private industry is growing at a modest pace and this growth is helping to raise incomes among American families,” said U.S. Commerce Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Rebecca Blank. “Healthy consumer spending goes hand-in-hand with income and job growth, and the administration remains focused on boosting employment to ensure every American who wants a job can get one.” (Release)
