Business inventories rose 0.4% in April 2010 from March, but were still 2.8% below their level in April 2009. Sales increased 0.6% in April 2010 from the prior month, and were 13.1% above their level a year ago.

Business inventories rose 0.5% in February 2010 from the January level, but were still 6.7% below their level in February 2009. Sales increased 0.3% in February 2010 from the prior month and were 6.8% above their level a year ago.
Business inventories were virtually unchanged at $1,310.2 billion in January 2010 from the prior month, and were down 8.6% from January 2009. Sales rose 0.6% to $1,046.9 billion in January 2010 from the prior month, and were up 6.8% from the year before.
Business inventories in December 2009 were down 0.2 percent from the prior month and were down 9.7 percent from the year before to $1,310.7 billion. Sales increased 0.9 percent from November and were up 4.7 percent from December 2008 to $1,040.4 billion.
