New orders for manufacturing goods, including transportation, decreased 0.5 percent in August to $408.9 billion. Shipments decreased 0.6 percent in August to $415.1 billion. Unfilled orders declined to $804.0 billion. Inventories increased 0.1 percent to $526.4 billion.
